Ceri and Chester practicing recalls

The PDTI has been running an annual seven-day practical awards course since 2006, which is now well established and respected. The next one runs from Saturday 22nd - Saturday 29th July 2023. Due to popular demand we now also run teaching skills and bespoke club workshops for Instructors.
See PRACTICAL COURSES for more information.

Since the PDTI registered formally as a not-for-profit company in 2010, we have expanded our services and invited Instructors to become members, with their achievements recognised within a grading system. We now run an annual educational Conference and various complementary skills workshops for both Instructors and Handlers and to also assist members in thier continual professional development (CPD).
See EVENTS for a list of opportunities.

The PDTI also introduced a theory programme to align to the levels of our practical awards, to not just encourage learning but to give members the opportunity to demonstrate their understanding of the theories behind their ever increasing skills. The PDTI worked in partnership with Harper Adams to develop these into two awards between 2010-2013: A level 4 certificate in Canine Behaviour and Training, and a Level 5 Diploma in Canine Training and Behavioural Management. Cuts in government funding prevents the PDTI from continuing its formal association, however offers the same course in-house.
See THEORY PROGRAMME for more details.

Our membership programme through its grades, awards and certificates with the use of post nominal letters, offers support qualifications for registering with the Registration Council for Dog Training and Behaviour Practitioners (RCDTBP).

With several of our members KCAI qualified, the PDTI supports the Kennel Club Accreditation Scheme for Instructors in Dog Training and Canine Behaviour (KCAI). All PDTI courses provide evidence of learning and skill, and build confidence and understanding for those working towards accreditation.
